# Incubator PMC report for January 2023
The Apache Incubator is the entry path into the ASF for projects and
codebases wishing to become part of the Foundation's efforts.
There are presently 30 podlings incubating. Podlings made 4 distinct
releases.
This month we were missing reports from Annoator, Marvin-AI and PonyMail.
There will be asked to report next month. Marvin-AI has not responded to
the PPMC roll call, there has been little activity on the mailing list, and
the IPMC has initiated discussions to retire. There are also discussions on
retiring Heron. Annoator may need new mentors and has been advised to seek
help from the incubator.
We have three new volunteers as incubator shepherds, and it's looking good
so far.
Kyuubi, bRPC, Sedona, and Linkis graduated last month, and more podlings
may graduate in the next few months, including Flagon. Tuweni has started
graduation discussions, but because the community is highly dependent on a
single contributor, IPMC expressed concerns about the diversity of the
community. KIE has started a vote to join the incubator.

team should email general@incubator.apache.org to see if anyone is
interested in joining as a mentor. Likewise, you might consider using the
Annotator mailing lists and/or Social Media to see if you can expand the
contributor community (to ultimately expand the PPMC).

     Comments: Podling is ramping up.
  - [X] (pekko) Claude Warren
Comments: Community is beginning to coalesce. The main issues facing
the development of the community is the ability to progress with
development, we have a number of people asking what they can do, but many
actions blocked by lack of consensus around specific topics. Now that the
outstanding legal questions have been answered I think the project will
     begin to progress more rapidly.
