There is nothing more disconcerting than looking at ps, top, or a Windows task manager window and seeing unfamiliar/unexpected programs. One of the top 3 security reports/FAQs is "Why did Apache take over my PC?"
To dispel concerns, and track why httpd or Apache.exe may be running on a system, here is a list of products known to (unexpectedly!) bundle Apache HTTP Server and run their own local, private copies of the server.
