Starcraft is a wildly popular PC videogame franchise that released its first instalment in 1998. Still going strong, its sequel Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty was released in July 2010, and is awaiting two expansion packs: Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void, the latter of which is set to release in April 2012. The game is set in the 26th century in a far-away part of our own Milky Way Galaxy, and revolves around three species: Terrans, human exiles from Earth; Zerg, a race of parasitic insectoids; and Protoss, technologically advanced humanoids with superior mental powers. Wings of Liberty focuses its storyline on the Terrans, while the future expansion packs will focus on the other species. Starcraft II follows the actions of its protagonist, Jim Raynor, while he leads a group of insurgents against the Terran Dominion.
