Apache has a booth at JavaOne 2005.

NOTICE : Badge Process Will be Here

We have a limited number of badges and have to carefully manage and track them to ensure that we can have as many people at the booth as possible. Please watch this space for more information. The protocol will be something like :

1) We'll have several contact #'s to call for help

Geir : +1 203 665 6437

2) Project reps that need a badge to access the show should arrive 5 mins in front of Moscone South. Someone from the booth will meet you with a pass.

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE TO MOSCONE SOUTH. THE EXHIBIT HALL IS THERE BUT YOU CAN'T GET IN W/O BADGE

3) We must give the passes back and keep careful control so we don't find ourselves unable to get in - WE HAVE ONLY A LIMITED NUMBER.

Staffing Pool

Please put your name next to the project you wish to help represent. If your project isn't on the list, add it. Also, please put down the times when you *cannot* attend. Also, put your name in as many projects as you can. That way we have flexibility in covering all the slots - we'll work to minimize each person's time commitment.

Marketing Material

1) We will have lovely tri-fold pamphlets to give out. 10k of them in fact. Give them out. Scott Sanders will be bringing the brochures, trying to get them to the booth before 11am.

2) We are part of the J2EE "Treasure Hunt" - people will come by the booth to get a stamp for a "treasure map" - if they get enough stamps, they get a book. We should try to make them hear a 10 second pitch about hte ASF or the projects there, and take a pamphlet?

3) We will be raffling off some free books. We'll have a hat or a container for business cards, and we're going to have a drawing at a set time each day the Pavilion is open. People have to be present at the drawing, so we don't have to worry about mailing books to winners. [TO: every day at 5 PM is a good arbitrary number. The Pavillion is open from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM on Monday, and to 7:00 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday, so 5 PM is a good, round number. I'll be there to pick up/drop off books on Monday AM.]

  • Could you author guys check with yours respective editors/publishers if that would be possible?
    • List of Donated Books
      • Maven: Developer's Notebook - 5 copies (could be 10 if we don't get enough for Monday)
    • Publishers
      • O'Reilly - Contacted - should be dropping off some titles Monday AM
      • Manning -
      • Wrox -

It might be a good idea if we could have a quick handout of sessions, BOFs, and events related to the ASF.

This has been "completed", will be printed on Sunday. Please review this PDF by Sunday Morning. http://brahe.discursive.com/ASF-JavaOne.pdf

Apache Web Of Trust

Just a reminder that conferences are a great time to swap fingerprints for public keys used to sign ASF releases. The Apache Web of Trust still needs a lot of work. Public key signatures are an increasingly important part of the ASF infrastructure. So, please make remember to have your fingerprint with you.
