A Top Level Project (TLP) is a project recognized by the Apache Sortware Foundation (ASF) board. A TLP has legal responsibility for the code it manages. TLPs generally represent established, successful and focussed communites at Apache.
A classic definition of a TLP is:
- a codebase
- a community
- a oversight committee on that codebase and community
Examples of TLPs are Ant, Avalon, HTTPD, James and Jakarta.
