Goals of the Apache Wiki
- The Apache Software Foundation has installed and configured a Wiki to achieve the following goals:
- Provide the general community (Apache Membership, committers, and users) with a vehicle for communication related to:
- the development, maintenence, support, documentation, and design of software under the auspices of individual PMCs.
- the development, maintenence, and design of documentation describing the policies, structure, and operation of the Apache Software Foundation.
- Provide the general community (Apache Membership, committers, and users) with a vehicle for communication related to:
Scope of the Apache Wiki
- In order to foster the development of content that supports the goals stated above. The Apache Software Foundation has found it necessary to define a narrow scope for the content of this Wiki. The following statements form a definition of this Wiki's scope, and any deviations from this scope may result in an enforcement action.
- Apache Wiki content must adhere to the regulations defined below emphasizing the Policy of Neutrality.
- Apache Wiki is a forum for impersonal debates of issues that relate to current topics under discussion.
- Personal views, personal web logs, and advocacy outside of impersonal debates is outside of the scope of this Apache Software Foundation Wiki. Inidividuals are allowed to create one Wiki page to briefly describe themselves, these pages can link to external sites which express an individual's point of view. The Apache Software Foundation in no way explicitly endorses the content of these pages.
- Pages noting pros and cons are acceptable, so long as they are fair and a due and resonable attempt to show both sides of an issue. These should stay largely confined to technical issues/tradeoffs.
Editorial decisions such as deletion of inapporiate or just plain bad content can be documented on the associated [Talk:ApacheWikiScopeAndGoals Talk Page] and linked from the top.
Discussion of Wiki administration, debated content topics, and debates regarding editorial decisions should take place on wikidiffs@apache.org which is a public R/W list (therefore everyone who can edit the wiki can participate in the discussion).
Regulations of the Apache Wiki
- The Apache Wiki should adhere to a policy of neutrality.
- Posting of illegal or copyrighted information or material will result in swift enforcement actions, including, but not limited to:
- Suspension of Wiki privileges by IP address
