- When the Wiki was initially setup, it was noted that ASF wanted to try to avoid recreating the existing website.
There is a move within the ASF to move more and more things to the top level. Its not necessary to differentiate in the page names, it would only serve to make them very long. The only case where it is a problem is with XML Commons, Jakarta Commons and Apache Commons. Normally such name mangling is avoided.
I don't think collapsing Jakarta is a good idea
Late refactoring seems the most reasonable approach. Solve it when it if and only if it becomes a problem.
The facade pages are somewhat motivating I think... Some folks saw those and started filling them out. I think such behavior will continue.
I think that they can be motivating, and that creating a facade page is a good attempt at pushing the process along. On the other hand, if a page just sits there with no content - it should probably be removed. Examples would be ( BCELProjectPages, BSFProjectPages, RegexpProjectPages ) - I made those pages 24 days ago, just cause I got sick of looking at question marks. I find it analogous to a project in the sandbox that languishes without support with little or no content. - 1/27
Patience. The wiki has only been up since late December (which year?). It seems a bit overzealous to be deleteing those now. I suggest waiting about 3 months, we're at the 1.5 mark. Later a "in a month" policy will be more reasonable as the wiki grows in prominence. There is approximately 6 times as much content as I expected by now.
I think I'm beginning to understand the dynamics of wiki. If this is true, the better thing would be a boring page with just a small definition and no links, like "this is a place where you can post documentation or links about projectXXX". This will motivate readers with HorrorVacui and InstantGratification which, I think, are the keys of wiki. Funny enough, Googling "wiki instant gratification horror vacui" yields nil (until this gets indexed). - SantiagoGala 2003-02-31
The SOAP thing is a Dvz.
[Let me make sure I understand, do you think that we should rename XProjectPages links to just the project name for SubProjects and XProjectPages links to XProject for ASF Projects. (i.e. JakartaProjectPages would become JakartaProject and StrutsProjectPages would simply become "Struts" ). Take a look at "Tomcat" as an example.... - 1/27]
I personally wouldn't find it motivating to do so, but if you are, then go for it man.
As for slanted to Jakarta, thats likely to continue. Jakarta is big.
