Proposal for JSR109 implementation on Apache axis - A Web services - WS-Fx Subproject
22 October 2003, Srinath Perera (hemapani@opensource.lk)
(0) rationale XYZ will provide an open-source implementation of JSR109 on Axis. The initial implementation will be in Java using Axis/Java.
JSR109 defines the Web Services for J2EE architecture. It does not interfere with the J2EE components functionality instead open a new avenue to access them as web services. This is a service architecture that leverages the J2EE component architecture to provide a client and server programming model which is portable and interoperable across application servers, provides a scalable secure environment, and yet is familiar to J2EE developers.
The Geronimo project also need an implementation of JSR109.
The work is aimed towards Geronimo and axis integration. With this implementation, Geronimo should be able to use axis as the JSR109 implementation. If there is enough interest and support, this project could later be promoted to a "regular" project under ws.apache.org.
(1) Scope of the subproject
The purpose of this subproject is to create and maintain an implementation of the JSR 109 specification
