I've been using JMeter since 2001. In the past I wrote custom scripts to load test, until I finally got tired of redoing things again and again. I finally decided it was smarter (ie I'm lazy) to extend JMeter, instead of rewriting stuff for each consulting gig I do.
my small contributions include webservice sampler, accesslog sampler and integration of HTMLParser to compliment JTidy.
