Contribute to Axis2 and win an Apple iPod Nano at ApacheCon US 2005!

Win an Apple iPod Nano - small enough to fit unobtrusively in your pocket during boring meetings.

ApacheCon participants can now take part in the Axis2 code competition. Send in your contributions and stand to win an Apple iPod nano with the courtesy of those wonderfully generous people at WSO2! Not just oxygenating the Web Service platform but grooving it up with some fine musical technology too.

The WSO2 Axis2 Coding Competition is open to ApacheCon attendees who are not already Axis2 committers. Employees of WSO2 are not eligible to participate in this competition. Prizes will be awarded at the end of ApacheCon conference for the best patch and best code sample relating to Axis2.

The competition runs during the conference and submissions are due by noon Pacific time on Wednesday 14th December. The competition will be judged by a small but eminent panel of independent judges and their decisions will be final. In order to participate simply send your submission to the axis-dev@ws.apache.org mailing list, with the subjects

Learning About Axis2

Axis2 is an implementation of the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP). Going forward from the highly influential Axis Project, Axis2 aims to be the foundation and core of a clean, extensible and performant Open Source Web services platform. For more details see http://ws.apache.org/axis2.

If you are new to Axis2 take a look at the Architecture Guide. Another good place to start is this article.

The Axis2 committers will be down in the Hackathon and at the Axis2 Tutorial if you want to find us to chat about the competition. Attendign the tutorial would be a great way to get a quick start about Axis2 (and will give you another chance at winning an iPod Nano as WSO2 will be giving one away to a randomly selected tutorial attendee!

Suggestions for Submissions:

Feature Improvements

Samples :

Features and Samples are not limited to the above list and competitors are welcome to be creative and come up with their own ideas. The judges will be looking for creativity and relevance. The judges are not expecting polished completed codebases but will score working beautiful code more highly than buggy junk.
