American Weddings

Part of living in the United States, is the fact that you are free to live, love, and form traditions. In America, the weddings are mixed with something from every culture and are added with the unique American touch.

Beginning with the engagement, everything is exclusive with the American feel. In the United States there isn’t a set way to propose to someone, in fact the more crazy it is the better!

After the engagment, the couple then usually heads to visit their parents so they can inform them of the good news, and begin planning there American wedding.

In an American wedding, it is not uncommon for the bridesmaids to have a bridal shower for the soon bride-to-be. Also, the groom is sometimes given a bachelor party the night right before the wedding.

American wedding invitations, usually include response cards inside them. This is so the couple will be quickly informed how many people are and are not coming to their wedding.

Ninety percent of the time, there will be a rehearsal dinner. The wedding guests and party travel from all over to make it to the ceremony and a rehearsal dinner is something nice for the bride and groom to do for their guests. Usually, the parents of the groom pay for the rehearsal dinner.

Bridal luncheon’s are also common in an American wedding. The bridesmaids usually host this for the bride on the day of the wedding. This only happens if time allows it to, due to when the wedding is scheduled.

In an American wedding, even couples that are not extremely religious, still prefer to have a religious wedding ceremony. This can sometimes cause a problem though because of all the faiths that are practiced and if the religous background of the the two individuals are different.

Few people believe in vodo and bad luck, but most couples take the effort to make sure the bride isn’t seen in her wedding attire by the groom, before the wedding day.

It is still very common in America that only the bride and her father walk down the aisle. The groom and groomsmen usually enter the church through one of the side doors.

Gifts are also given at every American wedding. The wedding gifts are given based on what the couple would like to have, not what is thought should be given. Many couples prefer to register gifts so they can receive exactly what they want.

You can still hear the wedding vow, “For better or worse, ‘til death do us part” in every American wedding. It does not matter if the wedding is unique or not, you can be sure to hear that vow spoken.
