The hotel is located across the street from the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino, and is within walking distance of The Strip. Although some might consider it a somewhat long walk. BE sure to insist on the ApacheCon conference rate when booking your room.
Rooms at the Alexis tend to be large (often with a sofa or second bed), in reasonable shape, but a bit dated; most have a small fridge (but no microwave). Broadband is available in all rooms for a fee. Wireless networking is available in some rooms, depending on exactly where you are. There are several outdoor pools at the hotel; one is usually heated for a morning dip. Be prepared for some walking; if you get your room late you'll probably be at the far end of the property with a 3 min walk to the conference floor.
