ApacheCon Wi-Fi Network

Courtesy of [http://wifisoft.org|wifisoft.org] (a not for profit organisation that does lots of interesting public and community wifi things - do meet one of the Principals, Marten Vijn if you are interested - he will also be manning the OLPC table) and some volunteers - we have Internet and wifi at the conference.

The SSID of the network is "apachecon". We recommend to not use the Mövenpick wifi network in the conference area.

We have both a wired and Wifi (11b, 11a) network at apachecon. It is a simple NAT-ed network onto several ADSL and SDSL links from a few different telco's.

There is no filtering but for tcp/port-25. If we missed any protocol (icmp, udp, tcp, ipencap and esp) - do let us know.

While we keep a wee bit of state; the egress on several links does mean that you sometimes may' come from' a different IP address in short order. If you have any VPN, Bugzilla or other issues - let us know and we can see if we can tie things down for you to just one egress (which is needed for some cookie schemes).

You are coming from either 62.12.12.0/23 and 62.12.2.0/23. For your ping pleasure - 10.43.0.1 is 'this' side of the router; 62.12.4.8 is the first hop outside.

Should you need a wired connection, please let us, or any organizer, know. Please do not just steal a wire and especially not any of the ports labeled 'video'.

Should you encounter any problems, let us know by email (apachecon at wifisoft.org) or via IRC at #apachecon on Freenode), or come and find us in the room Winterthur, or talk to the folks at the registration desk.

Enjoy!
